Innovative Processes for Odor Control

Bio·Reaction's project experience in complicated, mixed VOC airstreams was easily adapted to meet the demanding, yet somewhat subjective requirements for industrial and municipal odor control applications. The flexible design of the BioáOxidization systems and patented media provided a natural foundation for development of a line of odor control products that provides a reduction in all types of odor compounds, not just the rotten egg smell of H2S.

The expanded surface area of the patented Bio·airSPHERES™ media, along with the combination of inorganic and organic treatment areas within each system, has created a 'pre-engineered' solution for many industrial odor applications and most processes associated with wastewater treatment facilities.

Bio·sumpVENT™

The Bio·sumpVENT is a lightweight, modular bio-oxidation system designed to meet the demands for odor control at lift stations, sewer vents, and other small contained processes that emit nuisance odors.

The exterior is fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) with a sealed lid that houses an internal framework to support Bio·Reaction's patented Bio·airSPHERES for the adsorption and digestion of odorous compounds emanating from odor causing sources which may include: wastewater collection processes, lift stations, sewer gas vents, animal and food processing facilities and other odorous processes.

The standard unit is equipped with an automated humidification/watering system and an induced draft fan. For applications in colder environments, optional heating systems and insulation are available.

The Bio·sumpVENT is a self-contained bio-oxidizer requiring an electric power supply, water, and a drain to a sanitary sewer for any minor blow down discharges. The system is capable of handling H2S and other odor compounds in airflows up to 200 cfm.

A single stack or multi-vessel system, sized to accommodate all airflows and concentrations of mixed air stream contaminants. Both system configurations include a pre-humidification/ pre-treatment area, followed by BRI's patented Bio·airSPHERES organic media.

Combining Technologies

Biological treatment technologies can be combined when higher levels of H2S are present in mixed air stream applications. (e.g. Headworks, Clarification, Biological & Solids Processes; and Collection Facilities). Combining a bio-scrubber to treat high concentrations of H2S followed by an organic bio-oxidizer for the additional odor compounds and VOCs provides a complete odor control solution with significantly lower operating and labor costs compared to chemical scrubbers. The modularity of the combined system ensures a long media life and reduced footprint over conventional bio-oxidation technologies.
